We can now reveal that for his first professional job of 2012, Thomas will be returning to the professional stage for the first time in 3 years, and will be setting sail on board ‘Titanic’! He will be opening a new theatre in Belfast with the production, the MAC ( Metropolitan Arts Centre ), and ‘Titanic : Scenes from the British Wreck Commissioner’s Inquiry 1912′ will be their inaugural production. Commemorating the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic ( 1912-2012 ), the play is a thrilling courtroom drama focusing on the Inquiry led into the events of that fateful night, filled with intrigue and emotion, and is made all the more poignant because every word is what was actually said by the real people at the time. Owen McCafferty has adapted the original transcripts of the Inquiry into a moving new piece of theatre, directed by Charlotte Westenra. Thomas will be playing the role of George Symons, lookout on the Titanic. This will be Thomas’s first piece of verbatim theatre.
The production runs from the 22nd April to the 20th May.
If you have sent fan mail to Thomas, please do not worry if you have not yet received a reply; filming ‘Downton Abbey’ Series 1, ‘United’, ‘Downton Abbey’ Series 2, ‘Anna Karenina’ and now rehearsing for ‘Titanic’ has all happened fairly continuously, and due to the large volume of fan mail received, many are still awaiting reply. But please rest assured that the backlog is being addressed!
